The wonderful immune-enhancing Thieves essential oil blend is one of my all time favorite oils that I have used it since 1996. Thieves has been one of my main oils of choice that I travel with and use to keep my immune system strong.
How I use Thieves essential oil:
TOPICALLY
Because a couple of the oils in this blend are ‘hot’, like cinnamon and clove, always dilute Thieves essential oil with a carrier oil (vegetable oil) such as Young Living’s V-6 vegetable oil blend (or any food-grade vegetable oil).
I put a small amount of carrier oil in the palm of my hand, add 3-4 drops of Thieves, mix it with my finger and then apply over the throat and neck area (over thyroid gland), over the thymus gland (heart chakra), over the lungs or stomach area if desired, and the back of the shoulders and neck. Then I cup my palms over the nose and inhale for a few minutes. The oil is warming, and I always feel strengthened when I use it. Thieves can be applied to the bottom of the feet as well, especially a good place when applying on young children, as you can put their socks on afterwards and they won’t accidentally rub it then rub their eyes. Could also be put on the back over the lung area with children, as they will not be accidentally rubbing the area and then rubbing their eyes.
INTERNALLY
As this is also a dietary supplement, I suggest taking it in a capsule for the same reason as above, to avoid any discomfort to skin or tissue due to the heat of a couple of the oils. I use an eye dropper to put a few drops of vegetable oil in the bottom of the capsule then add the desired number of drops of Thieves + other oils if I’m using them. Young Living makes an Inner Defense capsule with Thieves, Oregano, Thyme and Citronella. (for strict vegetarians, this is encased in a gelatin capsule. I prefer to make up my own in vegi caps.) FYI: vegi-caps cannot be made up in advance, as the oils will seep through the capsule if left for long. This is the reason for adding a few drops of vegetable oil as well, otherwise you may immediately lose your essential oils from going right through the capsule.
WHEN TO USE:
Whenever traveling or I'm going to be around a lot of people, I use Thieves topically, especially around cold/flu season. Any time I feel a little on the edge or am around someone who is unwell, I apply it with immediate, beneficial results (if possible, use it on them as well!). Anytime you want some added immune support, think of Thieves!
